Opening Address

Dear Friends,

A very Happy New Year and warm welcome to the 1st issue of ILJ for 2011.

This issue includes a special report on whether paying too little to juniors by their seniors is a barrier to enter litigation. This issue also focuses on important legal issues like the challenge of raids for entering into anti-competitive practices, confidentiality of mediation proceedings, transfer of non-performing assets in the light of a recent ICICI Bank judgment, whether games and gifts amounts to unfair trade, introduction of the new rules of the LCIA India chapter, unconventional trademarks, import of software and an introduction to the GNLU International Moot Court which just concluded its third edition as a forum for discussing debatable issues in international trade law.

The interview of the month deals with the UK Bribery Act, 2010 which was recently introduced by the UK Ministry of Justice while the book review section reviews ‘Indian Patent Law and Practice’, which talks about the latest updates on patent law in India. ILJ recently partnered with Gujarat National Law University in its third edition of the GIMC 2011 and has also entered into an partnership with Kluwer Law India to market its events in India as the media partner.

I wish to express my sincere thanks to all those who have extended their unflinching support for the launch of India Law Journal, particularly our esteemed Board of Editors and the Editorial Team. I also wish to convey my sincere gratitude to the erudite personalities who have contributed invaluable articles for publication. Your feedback will be extremely useful.
