Book Review: Prasenjeet Kumar, Quiet Phoenix: An Introvert's Guide to Rising in Career & Life, 2014.

Vikrant Pachnanda reviews this book where Prasenjeet Kumar shares his own incredible story right from his journey to being a corporate lawyer to turning into a full time author-entrepreneur using his introversion as strength to overcome all obstacles.

Prasenjeet Kumar starts this book of his by talking about his life as a corporate lawyer. He mentions how he did not enjoy his corporate lawyer job and that instead of enjoying his work, he was becoming more obsessed with saving his job. He describes how his stress levels were increasing day by day and he did not even know if there was any way out. Prasenjeet mentions how he had started realizing that he was nowhere close to being passionate about legal work. He realized that he was a creative person while at law school and university and enjoyed writing. Thus Prasenjeet knew where he was heading. After learning about blogging, website designing and social media marketing, he started a blog with his mother’s recipes in his spare time.

He then talks about reading a book on the power of introverts in the world that changed his life. He had not realized that what he had experienced so far while doing the corporate law job was because of him being an introvert. The phoenix bird inside him suddenly became awake upon reading that book and the phoenix was finally reborn from the ashes. When Prasenjeet lost his job due to the economic recession, he saw it as a new beginning for something better and brighter. He is now a full time author-entrepreneur and loves writing about things he is truly passionate about. He saw the job loss as a blessing in disguise by looking at the positive side of it.

This book is a must read for every one in every walk of life. It is extremely motivating and source of inspiration. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book since I had a similar path like Prasenjeet’s having started working as a corporate lawyer, not enjoying it and then quitting to do what I always wanted to which was to practice law as a litigator.
